Cozy Games has now closed down it's operations.
Cozy Games was an online gaming software provider. Founded in 2005, Cozy Games was originally headquartered in Douglas on the Isle of Man. It was a leading gaming software provider and provided the software platforms which powered well over a hundred different bingo and casino sites.
The company made its name in bingo, where it was a major player in online bingo. It operated two entirely separate networks, which provided a large proportion of the sites available to United Kingdom based players. It was second only to Dragonfish as a “white label” operator, providing templated sites for other site operators. All Cozy Games powered sites offered a wide range of smooth running bingo formats. Many providers offer just 90 and 75 ball varieties, with maybe one alternative “speed” format thrown in for good measure. Cozy always offered several more than this, sometimes providing 90, 80, 75, 50 and 30 ball games to play.
The most populated network of the two Cozy siblings was its Live Bingo Network (LBN). This network had well over fifty different titles under its umbrella, including top names like Aunty Acid, Grimms, Ream, Scrummy and Vampire Bingo, to name just a few. The more junior partner was Best Bingo Network (BBN), which had just a couple of dozen titles in the club, such as Harry’s, Kelly’s Eye and United Colours of Bingo.
It also designed its own games, where it had an excellent portfolio of slot designs. These included several iconic titles, such as licenced movie franchise games Jurassic Park, Terminator 2 and Lara Croft’s Tomb Raider. Other evergreen titles include Avalon, Irish Gold, Shaman’s Luck and Thunderstruck. There was always a good selection of traditional table games and a range of scratch cards on all Cozy powered sites. Cozy sites also licenced games from fellow major games designers NetEnt and Microgaming, so there was always a broad selection of games available to play on all Cozy powered and networked sites.
In recent years, Cozy Games had expanded its repertoire and diversified into operating its own casinos. This was a sensible move: the margins are higher in casino sites, and it already had a fine portfolio of excellent slot titles of its own, which saved money on licensing fees. Casinos launched included Aunty Acid, Game Village, Scrummy and Spinsvilla.
In 2018, Cozy Games was acquired by the massive gaming conglomerate GVC Holdings, which is the owner of the Bwin brand amongst others. Cozy was then operating under the wing of GVC subsidiary brand ElectraWorks, although it continued to be based on the Isle of Man.
Cozy Games closed down its operations completely in 2020. It's original unique selling point was its free bingo bucks and no deposit bingo offers. Bingo bucks were awarded as a welcome bonus when players simply signed up, this allowed them to try out the games, although this was a double-edged sword and some players were not happy that they could not withdraw any winnings without meeting some truly ridiculous wagering requirements. When the UK Gambling Commission introduced a taxation on operators that included any bonuses given to players it was the final nail in the coffin for the Cozy Games operation. Although remnants of their software still remain in some of the sites listed here. I'm sure some players will miss this company as their software was actually very good with a sense of fun and the chat rooms were vibrant with activity.
